CONSTRUCION WORK ON THE RESCHEN PASS STATE ROAD B180 - ALTERNATIVE DRIVING ROUTE Until 2026
Notice for our guests: Please note that the Reschen Pass state road B180 will be temporarily closed between Kajetansbrücke/Pfunds and Nauders from September 2024 until the end of 2026 due to construction work for a rockfall gallery. During the closure periods, we recommend using the detour route through Switzerland to avoid the affected road sections. This detour via the Engadin Road (B184) and the Martinsbruck Road (B185) takes about 10 minutes longer than the regular route, depending on traffic.
A detailed route planner (Kajetansbrücke/Pfunds) for the detour can be found here: Google Maps Route Planner
Stress-free travel to South Tyrol by train
Travelling by train means getting on board and leaning back in your seat while enjoying the landscapes passing by or while reading a book.
Positioned in the heart of Europe, South Tyrol has a good train network, with connecting trains from Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), as well as Deutsche Bahn (DB).
Further information at: www.suedtirol.info
From Germany
Several times a day and in less than four hours, Deutsche Bahn's EC trains take you directly from Munich to Bolzano, Bressanone or Fortezza without changing trains. An example of this is the new Berlin-Munich high-speed line: the ICE Sprinter makes the connection from Berlin to the Bavarian capital in around 4.5 hours. |
From Austria
Discover South Tyrol with ÖBB. |
From Tyrol/Landeck
Cross-border bus connection: Since 10 December 2023, the approximately 75-kilometre route can be travelled seven days a week between 6.40 am and 9.17 pm with 14 return trips per day with direct buses on line 273. Special note: The new express bus Mals - Landeck line 273 was commissioned by the VVT, the Tyrolean transport company, in co-operation with the province of South Tyrol. |
From Switzerland
Experience a pleasant journey with the Railjet Express & Eurocity arriving from Switzerland via Innsbruck and Brenner/Brennero. From Zurich, Basle or Geneva SBB trains run several times daily. |
Travel to South Tyrol at night
The ÖBB Nightjet from Hamburg, Cologne or Düsseldorf takes you via Innsbruck to South Tyrol by night. Board the sleeping car in the evening and change trains in Innsbruck the next morning well rested. This way, nothing stands between you, an aperitif, and a hearty lunch south of the Alps. |
Travelling with children
DB, ÖBB and SBB have especially favourable offers for train journeys with children. |
Take your bike to South Tyrol
Several long-distance trains from Germany, Austria and Switzerland allow taking bicycles on board. A few of them even offer additional storage room in their luggage or bike compartment. A reservation in case of bicycle transport is required. |
Storage possibilities
The Basecamp Dolomites at the train station in Bolzano/Bozen allows storing luggage or bicycles for a few hours or several days. |
