Resia Holiday Area
in winter
Snow-covered peaks, crisp and clear mountain air as well as never-ending slopes, cross-country ski trails and a real variety of tours - isn't that all you need for the perfect winter holiday? Well, the Border Triangle region offers even more. Snowshoe hikes to snow-covered mountain huts, fast-paced fun on toboggan runs or ice skating and snow kiting on Lake Resia are certainly the icing on the cake.
Skiing
It's off up the mountain! The Schöneben-Haideralm family ski area, which is blessed with sunshine, is located at an altitude of 1,450 to 2,390 metres above sea level on the Passo Resia.
There are fifteen lifts and 65 kilometres of variety-packed slopes offering diversity for snow bunnies of all ages and all skill levels - whether on skis or snowboards. Of special interest to record hunters: the ski area offers the longest descent in the Vinschgau Valley at 700 metres.
Get your ski passes easily and at a discounted price in advance online.
Our family hotel is only 600 metres from the valley station – the ski bus will take you there and back in comfort.
Qualified ski instructors are on hand to help newcomers to the slopes, big and small, learn all the fundamentals and find the style that's just right for them. Click here to book your ski course online: Ski School Booking.
You can hire skis and equipment for children and adults from our partner Sport Folie in Reschen and select/reserve them online in advance.
Tobogganing
Tobogganing is a real highlight in winter at Lake Reschen and great fun for young and old alike. Right here at DAS GERSTL Family Retreat, you can rent toboggans – so you’re always ready for a swift downhill ride.
The region around Lake Reschen offers you numerous fantastic toboggan runs that have something for everyone. Whether cozy family descents or thrilling paths through the winter forest, you can toboggan for example from Rescheralm, Melageralm, Maseben, Vallierteck, Haideralm, at Ochsenberg in Langtaufers as well as on the toboggan runs Talaiwald and Plawenn. Tobogganing at Watles is also especially popular.
Ice Skating
Lake Reschen and Lake Haider transform into breathtaking natural ice rinks in winter, with ice layers up to 40 cm thick. This provides the perfect conditions for an unforgettable ice skating experience amidst the majestic mountain scenery of South Tyrol.
Ice skates can be rented in the village, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm for movement.
Cross-country skiing
Aim high even on flat trails. Around 26 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails lead through glistening snow, sunny fields and sparse forests at Lake Resia. The Border Triangle trail, which stretches all the way to Nauders in Austria, is especially popular.
Snow is absolutely guaranteed even in mild winters: the Weisskugel cross-country ski trail in Langtaufers, which meanders around 17 kilometres through wild, snow-covered nature, and the Langtaufers high-altitude cross-country ski trail at 1900 m guarantee winter fun - which means a double dose of great views.
Ski touring
An adventure awaits just around the corner: the side valleys of the Passo Resia Holiday Area, such as the idyllic Rojen Valley or the LANGTAUFERS VALLEY at the foot of the mighty Ötztal Alps, make the hearts of true ski tourers beat that little bit faster.
Slopes offering all exposures and unspoilt nature guarantee magnificent powder snow experiences away from the busy ski pistes.
